The History of Tallon Mortuary Specialists

TMS was founded in the late 1990s by Glyn Tallon. Glyn has a rich background of all mortuary and death care service which has led him overseas to work and teach and share his knowledge and expertise.  

Glyn expanded the business to its current position in academy street Navan where he leads a qualified team of 5 embalmers who all have a wealth of expertise and knowledge in death care. 

We pride ourselves on giving families the opportunity to say goodbye to their loved ones that we are called upon to serve.

At Tallon Mortuary Specialists, the ethos of each Embalmer and Death Care Provider is to provide professional standards of excellence for those we are called upon to serve. We offer our Embalming services to Funeral Directors Locally, Regionally and Nationally, including a Nationwide Removal Service. Services are provided on a 24 hour on-call basis, seven days a week.

Embalming is undertaken by fully Qualified and Registered Embalmers and Death Care Practitioners in Ireland and includes a Specialist Facial Reconstruction Service, Hairdressing and Cosmetics. We recognise and respect the life change which presents when a loved one dies, therefore in whatever circumstance our knowledge, skills and competence as an entrusted provider, offers grieving families at all times a professional and confidential embalming service and our optimal personal attention and compassion. Tallon Mortuary Specialists are a family owned and managed facility and are recognised Embalmers in Ireland and Worldwide, with a focus on professional embalming standards and education.

Glyn Tallon

Glyn is motivated and entirely dedicated to promote education and practical skills teaching for new students and continued professional refreshment and development training for registered embalmers.  

Glyn Tallon is a highly respected embalmer with over 30 years of experience in the funeral profession. Renowned for his expertise in trauma and reconstructive embalming, Glyn has built a reputation for delivering exceptional care and precision in even the most challenging cases.

Throughout his career, Glyn has shared his knowledge and skills on a global stage, teaching and mentoring professionals across the world. His dedication to advancing standards within the industry has made him a recognised and trusted name among peers and organisations alike.
Beyond his professional life, Glyn is deeply committed to personal fitness and discipline. He regularly competes in ironman events worldwide, demonstrating the same determination and resilience that define his work.
Glyn's passon, expertise, and commitment to excellence continue to set him apart as a leader in the funeral industry.

Professionalism / Accolades Education

Glyn studied embalming at the Belfast College of Embalming in Northern Ireland. He was awarded a Diploma in Embalming and is a registered member with "The British Institute of Embalmers".  Glyn also joined membership with "The European Association of Embalmers" in 2000.

Whilst studying embalming, Glyn obtained an Anatomical Pathology Technologist Certificate in 1999 in conjunction with "The Royal Institute of Public Health and Hygiene".  Glyn was also awarded a Diploma in Anatomical Pathology following an intensive course at Southampton University Hospital (2002), also in conjunction with "The Royal Institute of Public Health and Hygiene". Since then, Glyn has maintained the role of Senior Anatomical Pathology Technologist at "Our Lady's Hospital", Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland.

Glyn's dedication to his profession as a Professional Embalmer and his desire to master the techniques in embalming enrolled him with "The Fountain National Academy of Professional Embalming Skills" (FNA) Missouri, USA. Since becoming involved with Fountain National Academy (FNA) in 2000, Glyn has attended a series of courses, seminars and workshops on "Embalming Skills", "Soft Tissue Injuries", "Waxing and Airbrush Cosmetics" and "Advanced Post Mortem Reconstructive Surgical Techniques". He was later named a Member and the European Representative for the organisation, along with becoming a Laboratory Instructor at the facilities headquarters.

  • Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP) by "The Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice" (2009). First recipient in Ireland
  • CPD (Outstanding Continuous Professional Development Activity) Certificate by "The Association of Anatomical Pathology Technologists" (AAPT) Council, which was the first ever award of its type in Ireland. (2009)
  • Recipient of "Distinguished Service Medallion" (FNA) (2010).
  • International guest speaker at the Australian Institute of Embalmers Speaker on the subject of "Post Mortem Restorative Surgery" (2011).
  • Guest Lecturer and Instructor at the "Ray Last Laboratories", Adelaide University, Australia (2012).

The course objective in Glyn’s presentations is to enhance embalmers knowledge, skills, confidence and competence in dealing with trauma and practical restorative surgical techniques.

Glyn will continue to devote his time and efforts to research, promote and practice standards of excellence within his sphere of responsibility as an Embalmer and Teacher in serving the Families who entrust the care of their loved ones to Tallon Mortuary Specialists.

Fionan Tallon

With nearly 25 years of experience in the field, Fionan brings a wealth of knowledge, skill, and quiet compassion to his role within our mortuary team. Throughout his career, he has cared for individuals in a wide range of circumstances, including many complex trauma cases, always approaching each situation with professionalism, sensitivity, and the utmost respect.

He understands the importance of his work in helping families find comfort and peace during their time of need. His steady manner and meticulous attention to detail ensure that every person entrusted to his care is treated with dignity.

Outside of work, Fionan enjoys keeping fit, travelling to sunnier destinations, and following a wide range of sports. His active lifestyle reflects the energy and dedication he brings to his profession each day.

Breda Cumiskey

With a deep passion for care and craftsmanship, Breda Cumiskey is the Manager at Tallon Mortuary Specialist, where she has dedicated the past six years to providing expert embalming and facial reconstruction services within the death care industry. Known for her calm presence and technical excellence, Breda brings compassion and precision to every case, especially those requiring trauma makeover and detailed restorative work.

Before joining the funeral profession, Breda spent over a decade running her own successful hair salon. A master in hairdressing and trained makeup artist, she later followed a calling to retrain in embalming – combining her artistic eye with a heartfelt desire to serve families during some of life’s most difficult moments.

Today, Breda not only leads by example at Tallon Mortuary Specialist but also shares her knowledge by teaching embalming to future professionals. Her unique background enables her to offer an exceptional level of detail, care and dignity to every individual she is entrusted with.

Outside of her work, Breda is married with two children and finds joy in spending quality time with her family, listening to music, and indulging in her love of musical theatre. Whether with friends or loved ones, she cherishes the simple moments that bring people together.

Hazel

Hazel is a dedicated embalmer at Tallon Mortuary Specialist, bringing both technical expertise and heartfelt compassion to her role. With a background in makeup artistry — spanning everything from high-fashion runway to bridal — Hazel is also trained in prosthetic work, wig creation, and facial postiche. This unique skill set allows her to restore and present loved ones with care, precision, and dignity.

Her path into embalming was deeply personal. After the tragic loss of her sister, Hazel felt a profound calling to support families through one of the most difficult times in their lives. Her mission became clear: to care for each person entrusted to her with the same attention, respect, and love she would want for her own. From preparation to presentation, Hazel ensures every individual is treated to the highest standard, offering grieving families peace of mind and a chance to say goodbye in a meaningful way.

Outside of her work, Hazel leads a full and vibrant life. She is a proud wife and mother of four, balancing a busy household with a passion for fitness — whether she’s lifting weights or running. And when it’s time to unwind, you might just find her raving at a music festival, embracing the joy and energy of the moment.
